It’s with great regret that we have decided to close our Facebook features.
Unfortunately, Facebook are not happy for Twiends to promote Facebook fan pages in the way that we have up until now. After a fair bit of discussion this week with Facebook we have decided that changing the feature the way they have requested will not lead to a good experience for Twiends users. Our goal is to help people grow their social networks in an ethical and compliant way. We want to be a great discovery engine for users, and we always want to make sure that we conform to the policies of the networks that we integrate with.
Although we would love to have Facebook on board with us, we see this as an opportunity to expand the Twitter services we offer. We have some exciting features planned on the Twitter side, such as competition features, and with the removal of Facebook from Twiends we’ll now have the capacity to roll these features out. We see this as an exciting new chapter for Twiends, where we can hopefully become an even more valuable contributor to the Twitter ecosystem.
We’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused. In many ways this was out of our control. The Facebook profiles that are on the site will be removed over the course of the next few days and a small redesign of the site will be made to make space for the new features we’ll be rolling out..
Please open a support request above if you need specific assistance on this..

Twiends will fail within the next month now. WRONG MOVE GUYS.
bad news, i use only facebook with twiends... i think its not the for twiends but for facebook ;)
hehe.... Great job convincing your customers they have value.... You guys DO realize that with customers you have no business right? Personally, Im not leaving due to the debacle, but they sheer amount of "whateverdom" and insincere "good bye and good ridons" from Twiends peeps... is sad.
Hi Dave, although it is unfortunate Facebook has forced you to make this decision, we hope you can expand on Twitter.
Could you please enable the use of at least 2 twitter accounts for each twiend account, as that will also help ensure everyone uses their unique profiles instead of creating multiple twiends profiles.
I do agree with cleverman. It is possible to host links without connecting and offer seeds. If not, the onus is on the base we've created to cross promote. Don't cry. Take control of your page and use what we have to grow. Promote via YouTube and Twitter. Make a promise to grow each other ethically and don't churn. Ever. It's bad for everyone in business.
This is not good news for Twiends. Spin it any way that you like but FB was the reason why I had a auto-pay set up. That will stop.
I suggest you get your management team together again and sort this out. Losing 25% of your business is a disaster any way that you look at it.
Oh, i see twiends
All we need is an alphabetical list of pages to like. That's all Facebook uses on their menu of the top pages. And that should have a global internet presence on every site we use. Promote through Twitter, promote through YouTube and host a list. All the other services are having the same problem. Twitter is still only 5% of Facebook's size, although it will be very important in the future as Facebook becomes more stifling. It would be foolish to break up the Twiends community when we're already here. Let's just figure out a workaround.
This is not possible. No Facebook no Twiends! I am verry sad about this.....
what is going on?? Does anyone know of any other programs like this to use??? This SUCKS!!!! my clients need to show likes on their pages!! PLEASE HELP ME!
Just my two cents - the FB fan page was the reason I was here, too - I find that people on twitter here immediately un follow you if you don't follow them back that minute.
What I think you guys should do - is have a 'tweeting' service, where people can tweet posts from any RSS feed.
That way, I could take my blog RSS feed, and post it here and get additional social exposure for all of my posts - I know A LOT of people who could benefit from that.
-dave
Again Twiends Users: Example of Workaround: 1. www.facebook.com/RightStuff = 9 seeds
2. RightStuff has confirmed your like.
3. You unliked RightStuff
4. Unlike RightStuff - 9 seeds
5. Relike RightStuff = 9 seeds
Facebook connectivity is not necessary to outside sites since websites are using the like button and referrals. In the meantime, it's up to us to post videos and incentivize Twitter for liking FB pages through them. Don't throw your hard work and money away, people. FB's policies are affecting everyone and if they had a platform that encouraged marketing, we would not be here. FB is built on people power and that's what we are. Don't hate. Integrate.
And yes, that's just a fictitious site.
bad news
I just got here and FB went offline the morning after I started. So I don't know what I'm missing. If it's true that the Twitter people unfollow then that sucks. RSS Subscription is a cool idea. Maybe comments, too. I don't know.
END. OF. TWIENDS.
It's all good. I trust Dave and the entire Twiends team will make up for the lost Facebook feature soon!
This is unreal... I was only using Facebook feature and promoting pages to get followers to start with.
Thats not good. Please, find the way to get Facebook back on. That is really needed.
It is easy to grow Twitter and not too many people here are actually interested in Twitter anyway.
Dave, Facebook has to come back.!
Facebook has to come back
This is very bad news... fix it if you can. But perhaps you'll take this opportunity to introduce a YouTube Subscription function. You are incorrect if you don't believe there's a demand for it.
I will still use Twiends for Twitter, but wow Dave this really sucks. I stopped buying seeds many months ago. I was doing everything manually. The number of my Facebook page likes really were a good thing for the image my services. Now if it wasn't for getting more Twitter followers through Twiends I wouldn't have been able to build trustworthy relationships with my blog interviewees, etc. But anyway.. first the website feature was gone, now Facebook. Hum... well at least I got a base but something doesn't smell good. Almost everything is gone. :(
It is hard to read some of the flaming comments here, but I understand the anger that people feel. Thanks to those who have been so supportive. I want to reiterate a few things to everyone.
1) This is not the end of twiends. Twiends was a Twitter only service for a year before we added Facebook. We have some very exciting features coming out for Twitter which will make our service hopefully even better.
2) We will lose our Facebook only users. We understand that. It upsets us, and we wish we could change it.
3) Removing the current Facebook feature was largely out of our control. Sure, we could leave a facebook tab on the site which did nothing, but what purpose would that serve? If you have an idea of how we might package a facebook feature going forward then please let us know. But be sure to check that it conforms to their policy first.
4) We did not make this decision lightly. We evaluated options for three days while in dialogue with Facebook.
5) Way may add some Facebook support back in future, as well as LinkIn, Digg, Websites, etc. We're always evolving our service and will add these type of features if they make sense, if they conform to policies, if their API's support it, and if they don't increase spam levels.
Please feel free to comment here however you wish, but constructive comments will give us the most guidance and input for improving our service.
smh...this is just terrible. as a musician twiends linked to facebook made my fan page look really good! my fan page is linked to my reverbnation page which makes me go up on the charts and now this...smh. im totally upset about this but at least u guys still have YouTube.
What facebook did sucks. I just started on twiends and unfortunately only managed to get 250 fans. Anyways...twitter seems to work for me as well so far as long as I get the "fairness" seeds back. Just want to encourage you guys and say thanks for what you're doing. Twiends was a truly great idea and it helped me a lot. Can't wait to see new twitter features...
What can I say. I agree with most people and say that for me this is the end of the road for me and Twfriends. The lack of facebook feature I feel will almost bring about the end of this site which is a shame. I wish you all the best of luck with your twitter pages but for me you have let a lot of people down. Good luck.
Guess I will be quitting my subscription.... who needs Twitter followers and YouTube views? For what, ego? Facebook is WHY Twiends was worth paying for!
Sincerely hoping you guys don't drop the isdsue, but continue to work with FB to find a workable solution. When you do, I'll be back.
OOOOOps i was about to buy Seeds thanks GOD i didnt .
i think twiends should reopen the facebook feature , its not impossible make some kind of deal with FB
Here's something I would like to see that I think would be really cool, and could make the Facebook tab pretty useful.
1) Allow everyone to specify how many seeds they want for their facebook accounts as before.
2) Instead of clicking 'like', visitors click 'view'. This would opens the Facebook page in a new tab, or you could even embed it. (This is how Facebook wants it if I understood you correctly before).
3) Back on Twiends, or at the top of the embed page, somewhere... The person viewing the FB page is given a small comments box. Big enough for 1 paragraph or so of typed text.
4) In the comments box the Facebook visitor is asked to type a comment about the page. Maybe it's a review of the facebook page, maybe it's just a comment to say hello. There is a Facebook comments API already built for this purpose that you guys could embed right into Twiends. Even better, use the Facebook discussion API and let each visitor type in a discussion about the page itself - that would be VERY cool.
So the visitor views the Facebook page, the page owner gets nice feedback on his page (or a discussion formed around it, even better). If FB doesn't like this idea of you using their API at all, then make the comment box instead submit an email directly to the twiends account holder.
The end result is we've just paid seeds for someone to view our Facebook page and interact with us. If they choose not to like the page that's great, but really how much do you think that will happen? We are all here to help one another out so I'd guess that most of us would like each others pages out of community involvement.
It also encourages people to put some work into making their Facebook pages look better and have more value for visitors, which is cool.
The bottom line here is this: Facebook has gotten too big and full of itself. Just like Google - it got big and started to make all sorts of rules and banned the ones that made it big. People should bombard facebook with their complaints - they deserve them!
Although I found this very helpful, I would like to know how I can get a refund... To get facebook likes was the reason for me to keep purchasing seeds.
First Google and the websites now facebook, if twitter get arsey good bye twiends :o(

why twiends do not office the same services for digg.com and other ? i just appreciate you that you are doing very well , unfortunately i was new to twiends, i found it very helpful and handy , thank you dear for such a great service
(Re: bestwebdesignaz
Twiends,
I think you should take a serious look at the proposed ideas that user "Bestwebdesignaz" suggested above. I would actually prefer this type of promotion and Facebook usage over the older model you offered.
Bestwebdesignas,
Kudos on an amazing idea(s)!
I came across other services that had the same thing happen, HOWEVER, they are stating this on their sites:
We're working on a new liking system so that you no longer have to have admin access to the page in order to get likes. It will take time to upgrade to a system like this. We will keep you updated!
Why doesn't Twiends do the same thing??? We too were only here for the Facebook feature.
Hi fairfax2015, what will their implementation look like..?
Are you happy to use a service that violates Facebook's policies..?
Could you build another site just for Fb? :/
I Love Twiends..
FB or bust
What, specifically, are you not allowed to do, Dave? We can create a workaround idea...give us the guidelines that the current implementation violated and between our group creativity, yes, we'll find a way around it. It has to be worth a try given all the people who want FB to stay and how much they pay for seeds and subs.
What did the old way do wrong?

@sj_rosen I contacted you via Twitter. I am following you as @FilmFrique. Please follow back and contact me as an @ message may alarm my followers speaking out of context or content. I really would like to connect with you for discussion. As for the other users, I have been reading this forum. Earlier in the forum, Dave, you stated Facebook offered simple links. You felt their terms would not grow Facebook users' pages in a meaningful way. Further on through the thread a few users stated they would be fine with that arrangement. Earlier in the thread, I suggested we use the Twitter and YouTube side to redirect traffic back to our pages. My YouTube side has not moved since I added it this morning, despite having 300 seeds. Many users are getting rather upset and leaving before finding a solution. We understand your frustration with FB. Due to size, it's become a necessary evil until Twitter can match its volume. On the flipside, your new Twitter rollout will certainly contribute to that. But the gap is HUGE. Twim is looking into connectivity and do not yet have your volume. Inc construct is flawed, cannot stay on top of their web pages or sufficiently roll out their YouTube side. I don't look at other sites as competitors but rather tools to amass small groups of points on various sites of the internet. This is a Facebook problem and as users, we must redirect where our base traffic goes. BUT if Twiends has the option to list links, it would appear from the direction this thread is going, your users would appreciate whatever can be done. Facebook rarely talks to sites. The fact they talked to you speaks volumes. Your base determines your success and they have not barred you altogether. They gave you an ultimatum. I would consider it or we find a way to pull the traffic in a meaningful way for Facebook traffic without spamming. Twim is trying. I think it's worth your time to do the same, especially considering your base is larger and you have precedent.
Man I am so sorry to hear that. Great idea! Loved it!
Lets put our minds together here. It's time for this. I am the CEO of a hosting company that have taken our share, and still are taking our share of the internet market. Facebook is here to stay. That doesn't mean that there isn't space for another social networking site, with a more focus on business promotion. We have the resources and the time available to do this. Mail me with your thoughts, or, if Dave with keep this thread running, post your thoughts here. We are a global community, and possibly Fast Forward Hosting can with all your help offer a solution that isn't centered around money. tyrone@ffwdhosting.com. Let's do things our way. The internet is what it is because of it's users, not because of the companies frontlining it! Dave mail me. There is a work around. We just need to figure it out!
I read the above guidelines and saw they threaten to take legal action if links are incentivized, meaning seeds would constitute as a breach of policy. For that reason, if enough users want the trade for Facebook fans as other sites simply list them, points must not be awarded, but a trade must be enough to garner fans. There is a workaround. But we have to decide listing of pages is enough.
Agreed ffwdstudios.
You know Dave I've been here since the beginning of twiends when the only feature was the twitter feature and the site was great then.I was really pissed about loosing the Website feature a few months back and got over it and I'm sure people around here will get over the loss of Facebook.
I actually think this will hurt Facebook more then twiends, webmasters will blog about how Facebook is and submit it to reddit, digg and other social bookmarking sites and hit the front page.
People don't be mad at twiends be mad at facebook send them thousands of emails and run their name in the dirt if you want to get back at someone.
In case anyone wants the relevant info from the links Dave posted, try this:
"c. You must not incentivize users to Like any Page other than your own site or application"
This pretty much means a site that does ANYTHING like Twiends is going to get blocked. :( That means Twiends can't give any incentive (seeds) for liking someone else's page. It's against TOU specifically - sites like Twiends can't use FB, period.
--------------------------
"Are you happy to use a service that violates Facebook's policies..?"
Getting caught would mean your entire page removed whether it had 250 likes or 5000 likes. Unfortunately, some people will continue to find services that do this but ...
(Re: bestwebdesignaz)
@mattantonin I quoted this portion in my previous statement. It is however, not against FB policy to list, amass a base of users and like what pages are available. Whatever base is left here that's interested in using FB, because it is currently at 600M users, should consider the fact that we ought to be looking at a bank of pages which will be traded for the sole benefit of fan for fan. This is how Twitter users used follow for follow to grow their pages quickly, ethically and safely within the Twitter construct. Keeping in mind FB wants to do this in order to pull more money back into their ad program which does not work, it is up to us and Twiends to decide if a bank of pages is meaningful to its base. I'm thinking the YouTube side is not moving because it was integrated with the FB side when people hit a like limit. FB is also turning off their suggest to friends option soon. That being said, before any more hemorrhaging of this base occurs, a bank is necessary. Do we really need points? It seems to me we need views, fans and followers and Twiends can find a way to benefit from the traffic itself. This is a caveat FB has created in order to block them. We are the users. It's up to us. I think we should also entertain sites that are willing to host and link back in. But the design must be different. Also keep in mind FB will do whatever is necessary to crush your effort without money going directly to them. But we are the users. We decide whether or not FB is successful. Also keep in mind most FB users do not like pages unless they are told by thousands they should. Keep in mind pages can come down as easily as they went up. There has to be a better way to ethically grow for the users that love these pages.
Dave you guys are doing a great job, though it's unfortunate loosing facebook but the service you guys are providing for free a hats off to you guys.... I'm hoping best for the future of twiends.... I want to say something to the users of twiends:- you should be grateful to twiends for using facebook services rather than complaining.
First of all - to anyone thinking about hosting companies, doing it ourselves, etc. - let's scratch that idea straight away. The reason Twiends is awesome is because it's established and has a huge user base. Starting something like this from scratch is too much effort to make it worthwhile. There would be no user base, no traffic, and no value. You need users and visitors to turn a good idea into a great one.
Thinkingspeed you got it right... "they threaten to take legal action if links are incentivized, meaning seeds would constitute as a breach of policy.". That's cool, so keep the seeds for Twitter. Then what Twiends does is create a VIP Directory tab. In here, every VIP is allowed to post up to 2 links under 2 categories. Maybe have 30 basic categories like other popular sites have to organize content.
The links could be website, blog, or facebook. Allow each link to have a small write-up.The twist is to make sure that it's VIP and VIP only - so it's exclusive. The who's who list. That way people are going to want to go through it and follow the listings in there as they know the people they're connecting with are serious about it and not out to freeload.
Twiends wins because you have to be a VIP member to get into this directory. Think of the incentive there, and if you drop VIP your links drop too.
We win because we get traffic from all the other VIPs who go through the directory and connect with us, just like we're going to go through and connect with them.
@bestwebdesignaz
@bestwebdesignaz Do you really think that starting something from scratch is not worthwhile? Do you think that Facebook, Google, Twitter, and the list does go on thought that when they started out? Regardless of where the internet finds itself now, we all know it's only going to get bigger!!! Twiends is a great foundation, and we will see many more like them. We will also see a lot more "Facebooks"! Facebook has the "pull" because of their size, just like Google. They are however not the beginning, nor the end!
I like your idea, however, the drawbacks are these regarding the comments portion only: FB will intervene if comments begin appearing on otherwise quiet and steady pages. Also those comments going directly into FB will drive down a base that it is not meaningful content and feeds will be hidden. I edit 18 hours a day and know if I'm not growing, I'm shrinking. The common thought on an FB page is content must be updated every 4 hours in order to amass fans. I have been very strict on commenting due to the fact people asking for cinematic content which takes time to create shakes the base the content will come out at all. Secondly, VIP's only isolate users, but Twiends needs an incentive to cover hosting and other overhead. Additionally, if competition arises here as it has in the past whether through fake profiles or churn, everyone suffered. We have to decide we appreciate each other's work and grow together. The clock is ticking.
What a bummer. I cannot blame Twiends. They are great but FB can be real A-holes. I don't know what their problem is. FB are real creeps and Mark Z is the biggest creep of all.
ffwdstudios Where can I reach you?
So much for using twiends anymore, the best feature was facebook.
mail me directly. tyrone@ffwdhosting.com. We are a hosting company. We do web design also, but your opinion, as an active internet user, can take us places. We make our money from our hosting, and therefore I can give my time as a developer to develop something worthwhile at my cost. We have all seen Google, turn to PTC to survive. Facebook is also there now! Hence their stance on twiends.com. There is no reason why the internet should shape this way. That's my 12 years of solid net experience talking. I don't know everything! The internet changes from day to day. Let me know what you think. Together we can possibly create a social future! :)
@ffwdstudios D
ffwdstudios Don't get me wrong I am a huge proponent of starting new projects, just not in this case.
A community of people dedicated to growing Facebook/Twitter/Etc. profiles is nothing new and it's been beaten to death. There's at least 10 other companies out there trying to do the same exact thing right now, many of them are struggling to bring in enough traffic to make it worthwhile.
Twiends already has a ton of traffic which is why it works so well.
ffwdstudios D
for twitter we have lot's of tools that need one time payment and use for years. if you use twitter here then we have to buy seeds.
for facebook we have only twiends now it's also dead.so there is no point to use twiends any more.
so twiends is gone.
thanks and bye.
@bestwebdesignaz :D Let's put our mind together. It's not about reinventing the wheel here. It's about making it better!. We know that facebook aint going to dissappear. But the role of the fan page is business promotion isn't it? Internet traffic is the easy part. Keeping ppl coming back for more....that;s where it is. And it doesn't have to cost ppl money!
I am deleting my twiends acount to....This Sucks....no facebook PFFF
I think you should not waste your money more by advertising on Adwords. The best way o increase Twitter followers is by Following tons. So Twiends is no more useful at lest to me. Yet another Facebook colony build. I HATE FACEBOOK NOW
bestwebdesignaz
please bring back FACEBOOK!
Your comment about the precedent base of Twiends is valid. Twiends stated earlier in this thread that FB users make up 25% of its base. Currently, the YouTube portion is not moving on my end. That tells me it's used with the FB side in conjunction. The Twitter side is not integrated although the traditional marketing rule is they should be used together. I think the user base after this shakeup must be re-evaluated and if the Twitter side is interested in FB and hasn't simply given up on those efforts, be integrated. But I must tell you. I am for free enterprise. Otherwise, we have this Facebook problem all over again. No one should be allowed to enslave the internet. And all must profit in business. Otherwise, the base will be lost due to ethics as well as feasibility of spending. No one can end up with all the profits.
Some of you guyz liked my page but forgot to post your link on wall. Lets help each other in dis situation! I'm just telling you guyz to exchange. If you guyz go to above link and like each others page, we can recover upto some extent! C u there. Dave, I know its FB whom we sud b mad of but.... Hope it'll be ok as tym goes on
In fact twiends could still keep the Facebook feature and not give any incentives to "Like" pages,so this means they wont use seeds just follow people and then they follow you back like on twitter. This means that twiends sales of seeds would go down 25% as they claim but will keep the sites Alexa rank low and people coming back and fourth to check the site out.
First the Website tab was taken down now the Facebook tab is down? i really dnt think this is good for business.
I would like to see about getting a refund, as I see no reason to keep using your service. It was a great service and it is to bad. Please let me know how to get a refund. Thanks
Thank you LA and 329, you are still somewhat small - there are other FB pages who have taken on your effort and have abandoned it. However there are still some who exchange. Maybe you can get a network together. Look up "like pages" in the page search and you will find many of them. You will most likely branch from there in your research. Breadman, to go on your idea, I think rather than having it be a loss for Twiends of profits based on that model I also suggested, we might be able to work for them. Such as we could be part of a package of Twitter followers for services. I would not mind getting a message for my FB efforts that I reciprocate with the profits going to Twiends. Additionally, I reiterate both sides should be integrated. There are some others working on an effort to keep this base together. We can all profit if we organize.
@Dave is there anyway you can add a new feature where you can get You Tube Channel views, You Tube subscribers and get awarded for viewing there page and subscribing? I am not sure exactly how to get that to work but that would be a feature I would greatly benefit from and I am sure anyone else that uses You Tube would also.
Who cares! TWITTER IS WHERE ITS AT
GO THERE DO IT WOOOOO!
Not sure if you checked, but that service is reliant on FB connect and is having the same issue. All sites with FB connect are having this very same issue. In the meantime, an exchange idea is good. It's working. Trade your links. Just like Twitter's follow for follow.
to thinkingspeed - I have tried it out and my likes are going through from my profile. Is that what you mean? It doesn't seem to be having the same issue that Twiends did.
I'm a tech. I understand the process. How long ago did you attempt, because I'm getting flatlined?
I agree.... Keep the Facebook section up and people follow without incentive other than Pissing Facebook off!
Thinkingspeed and digitalrevolution, what other sites are you talking about? I need a good few likes for few pages asap. Can You advise, please?
I should mention it allows links to be traded, but the connect function is broken to see results. Therefore the page must be monitored by the admin.
I regret that this service ended, but I understand Fb as well. I really appreciate what you did. Thank you very much.
Despite the fact that I enormously like Fb, it seems that Twitter will be even bigger.. Too many people are saying this.,, but I don't know how.
@thinkingspeed - I see what you're saying about that function. When I like a page it's going through so I can only assume the same thing for my page. The listings are not that organized and so on, but I'm willing to try anything right now.
Sauly, everyone is experiencing this issue which requires FB connect, because FB wants you solely to go through their ad platform which is costly and largely ineffective. All other sites that provide a service like this are experiencing it.Other sites
Will give you about 4 likes currently and is growing. will give you maybe a few, however, to see who liked your page and who you need to reciprocate requires FB connect which is the reason for this dreary season. My advice is to set up a Twitter and use Twim, Inc and Twiends to work your FB page through it. Do not spam. To grow your Twitter, search followback in find people on Twitter and look for lists within those profiles. Look for people who are following more people than they have followers and who have posted within the last hour in order to ensure you get a followback. Ask or set up an automated message to connect with you on FB and that you will do the same. This is the best thing to keep you afloat for right now. Relax. There are more sites on the horizon. And everybody, stay where you're at if you have liked a page. You don't know who liked you or viewed a video to be liked by you and the best thing is not to cause a panic for your business base. I wish you all luck in the interim.
Thanks all for your comments. We'll be closing this thread now as it's bound to become a magnet for spam and links if we leave it open for too much longer. We've let a large number of comments amass here which we feel probably represents the various views of our users, both positive and negative..
Please feel free to open a support request if there's something more you want to tell us. We will take all these comments on-board. If there is anything we can do around facebook we will do it...
Thanks again
Dave
Just to add, in the next day or two we'll open up a discussion around how a future Facebook feature might look on twiends. We'll give everyone an opportunity to give their ideas and help us brainstorm possibilities.
We'll be honest that we're concerned that any non-incentive based system will lack performance, but we're eager to hear more of your ideas. So put your thinking caps on, and we'll see what we can come up with. We'll start the discussion over the weekend, so stay tuned until then..
