One of our primary goals at twiends is to maintain a quality community for all to use. With the massive amount of spam on the internet this can be a huge challenge, but we’re committed to doing everything we can to achieve this.
Our most important rule at twiends is that fake accounts are not allowed. No one wants to be followed by a robot, or even worse, find themselves following a robot. We only permit real twitter profiles to use twiends. One of the main issues we've found is that there is some uncertainty around what is real and what is not. We want to offer these guidelines so that there’s no confusion.
- First and foremost, any profile that’s been created for the sole purpose of collecting seeds is generally considered to be fake. If you’re not linking your primary twitter profile to twiends then you should be wary.
- If the profile does not actually belong to a real person, brand or organization then it could possibly be considered fake.
- The content on the account is also used to determine authenticity. If the tweets or profile information looks really strange to us, then we might consider it to be fake.
- Profiles that are linked to permanent RSS feeds may be considered fake.
This is probably the hardest job, but sometimes it’s made really easy for us. There are many patterns and triggers we use to identify fake accounts and filter them out. We’re usually quite forgiving, but if we see strong evidence that a profile or group of profiles are fake then we will suspend all the accounts for that user.
If you think you’re innocent then please contact us and we’ll review it. You’ll need to provide us with some further information for the profiles in question, but if you can prove they are real then we’ll lift the suspension. Of course, if we find further evidence of abuse then we may be forced to contact twitter and facebook about all the profiles on your account. So please only contact us if you are sure we have made a mistake.
You can start again on twiends with a new account, but you can’t use any of the profiles that were suspended. If your real profiles have been suspended in this process then please contact us one month after the suspension and we’ll review your case again. Depending on the severity of the case, we may release your real profiles after this ‘cooling off’ period.
I know it’s probably a horrible feeling when you log in and see the suspension page. We don’t want to ruin anyone’s fun and hate playing policeman, but please understand our position. We have a duty to all our members to maintain the quality of our site.
